BAPRIBAP

Bapribap is a boutique kids clothing business in Senegal, the westernmost tip of mainland Africa. Bapribap is inspired by the spirit of a childhood lived outdoors, under the sun. Bliss!

Three years ago, Annica Ojermark Haque moved from Bangladesh to Senegal, with her journo husband (who I worked with for some time) and kids. Not really knowing where to shop for her daughter, and being inspired by the beautiful local fabrics around her, Annica launched the business.

Bapribap is now a team of four. Annica chooses the fabrics and the designs, Abi (who has graduated from fashion school) does most of the cutting, and expert tailors, Amadou and Sadibou, do the sewing. The team works in a small, colourful atelier around the corner from Annica's home.

Annica sources almost all of the African wax print fabrics from her local market place. The fabrics are 100 percent cotton and printed on both sides with colourful motifs and patterns, and importantly, they all tell a story.
